The real Finn
The increasing success of the FinnComfort shoe system also brought its downsides. New production facilities had to be found quickly to meet the growing demand on international markets. In addition, there were more and more disagreements between the technical and commercial management until the Finnish parent company finally separated from the German subsidiary. Mismanagement by the commercial manager accelerated the downward slide, so that the German branch had to file for insolvency at the end of 1984.
This was followed by an exhausting court battle over the whereabouts of the rights to the developments and logo that had been promised to Friedrich Hackner in the event of insolvency. A real economic thriller broke out, which went as far as threatening phone calls, with the result that Friedrich Hackner broke away from FinnComfort in order to realize his ideas in the future only on his own. The FinnComfort brand was sold to a German company. A court order was obtained that the FinnComfort logo must dispense with the characteristic elk antlers in the future.
